2005-06 TERRAPIN BASKETBALL NERVE CENTER SENIOR STAFF

Stayin Alive

Obviously a big win, especially since they don't play GT again this year and couldn't possibly lose another home ACC game and drop to 1-5...Every time I looked up Gist was dropping in another easy score. Still would love to see some true post moves but certainly he still shows the ability to rise above the fray...Is it me or does this offense looks soooo much better when Hayes is running the point. He still has a ways to go but you can't make up for lack of floor vision (see last year with DJ at the point) and he has that...if Vasquez was on Duke, I would down right loathe him. As it is, go GV...Ok, can someone explain to me why Osby doesn't get more minutes, let alone more than Bowers and perhaps even more than Ibekwe? To me Gist should start with Ibekwe coming in for him for continiuty and Osby start with Bowers coming in for him...Gist, DJ, Osby, Vasquez, Hayes would be starting lineup at this point. Ibekwe would be my 6th man, still getting 20+ minutes. Jones comes in especially when the offense is lacking, Bowers the 8th and all the rest...All in all, we can all take a deep breath. Just hoping my Duke and UNC tickets still will be worth something, a better chance now...

Good win, big win, HUGE win. Loved that they got out in front early and kept the pressure on throughout. Of course, they need to do it in their next game as well but we can hope

last time i went to comcast i was on the floor. i got my first chance however to see a game live from the upper deck and i must remind you... seeing a live game is very very very different than tv. you notice different things...see from a different perspective.

first of all, seeing the players as actual human beings, i don't get mad at them. at all. no matter what stupid shit they pull, it's easier to forgive a human being than it is a 3 inch 2 dimenional image stuck in a box.

second of all, finally being able to see the whole court, i can tell you eric hayes has the best court vision on the team. by far. he's smarter and more confident live. if i'm coaching, he's my starting point guard. period.

3, jones plays better D live.

4, bowers is equally as shitty in person as he is on tv. a complete and utter waste of space on the basketball court. which sucks, because once upon a time, we called him vanilla shaq. yet surely, he's all vanilla and no shaq.

3, it's plainly obvious that ibekwe would rather be a star than a basketball player. he walks around like a pimp, yet is not one. he looks for the big play instead of the smart play. he's a good player, but could be great if he thought more about the and less about himself. he is no shaq and could use a little more vanilla.

dave neal is extremely vanilla. and runs like homer simpson, who is more like french vanilla, but if just ONE more person would box out as well as dave, we would have won at least two more games. i don't remember which announcer recently refered to neil as "the enforcer" but belie dat. neil's the best 11th man in the acc.

some other interesting things i learned live...

0.upper deck seats are not worse than floor seats. just different.

1.the comcast center is quiet. i don't know if its the more the fans or the building, but you'd think in a make or break acc home game the house would be a rockin. it wasn't. at all.

2.the first half of a comcast hotdog is fantastic. the second half...well, let's just say i somehow became very aware i was eating random pig parts.

3.don't get the popcorn.

4.live, i spend alot of time watching things other than the game.

and 5. ALL cheerleaders are extremely hot from the upper deck.

great points on Neal, reminds of me when gary used Calvin McCall because he was one of the few willing to play D. This is why I am saying I don't get why Ibekwe is still starting if the #1 objective is to win. However, if you bench a senior, that is something that will turn off some recruits who feel entitled to start. And I say...screw them. We want back the players who EARN their roles. Baxter, Dixon, those guys weren't given shit!

As for Jones playing more D in person, your hot dog might have been laced with something. They guard the napkins at comcast better than Jones guards anyone.

Oh, my head is all over the place when I am at a game too, primarily looking around to see why is it so quiet...and looking for the beer man :-(

Yanik! I knew that was you, sittin in the noseblees stuffing your face and staring at that superdank Betty in secion 102.

Bitch, let me know next time. I almost sent Deloris to go get you, but she was giving me a massage and serving us mai tais in the box across from you.

What? All those observations and no mention of Gist. Chocolate Superman baby!

A] how did you see me from across the stadium?

B]it wasn't nosebleeds, just upper deck. lower upper deck. center court.

C] i don't know what section it was, but yes i was staring at a betty all night. several of them, particularly some mama who was running papers to all the media all night. all girls are hot from the ups!

D] i was with my boy. no way I'm bringing him to your box. heathen.

E] gist. crispy chee! you know I've been waiting for him to go off the charts. he might have started last night. beast. he's getting focused. we'll see next game if the switch has flipped.

how convenient that dr b steals what i posed as my starting 5 a long time ago (hayes, vasquez, dj, gist, osby)? okay, never mind that i was having technical difficulties and could not post that comment (i just learned that send is an important button to push when typing).

hayes should finish and start as he's just a solid pg (shot could be quicker or he's gonna get a lot slapped back in his face.

i don't like the 2's on this team but vasquez is almost the choice as a lesser evil (yes, ben, if he were on duke he'd already be as loathed as chris "let me scream every time i do the simple things like make a pass" collins). jones is a poor (very poor) man's vinnie johnson coming off the bench.

dj is not great, but he has a good bball iq and that means something.

what someone said before 'bout ei was true-he's more interested in making the huge play and being the stahhhh instead of being a player. does not realize he's neither?

always been a fan of gist, but good to see him stepping up after he seemed to regress a bit last year. as opposed to ei, he has some hoops iq.

boom. just solid. i don't understand why he gets less minutes than will "let me at least get in the scorebook by chucking up a horrible shot" bowers.

next question to you all? assuming 8-8 gets you in to the tourney, do we have a shot? assuming they lose to unc and possibly duke, that means 2-3 wins on the road. possible?

btw, looking at the latest rpi, md is 29, ironically ahead of vtech, bc and notre dame.

yes. 8-8 is very possible. if they stick to uncle yanik's very manageable roadmap to glory, we are good as gold. right as rain. sweet as...sweet as...hmmmm....sweet ass?

if they stick to my very manageable schedule we should be good.
